Story of Origin Shrimad Devi Bhagwat

Maharishi Ved Vyas was persuading his son Shukdev ji to get married at his ashram situated on the banks of river Saraswati.listening his not being interested in spending life as householder  and hearing about its suffering and feeling of being always in bondage. Then ved vyas narrates him the story of Devi bhagwat , there comes a story of the time when Lord Vishnu’s time being spent sleeping on the banyan leaf.

Son, when the whole creation came to an end and Lord Vishnu saw himself as a child, sleeping on a banyan leaf in water and saw water all around him.  So he started thinking, how did I turn into a child, who am I, how did I come in this ocean of water?  Which great man brought me here and which great man converted me into a child.  When such thoughts were going on in the mind of Lord Vishnu,  he is heard a half verse – Sarvam Khilvid Mewan Nanyadasti Sanatanam.  It means that whatever is there,it’s all me except me nothing exists.

Lord Vishnu heard this half verse and started thinking about who said this verse.  Where did this sound come from and in the mind started chanting that half verse.  After that, Goddess Adi lakshmi appeared in front of him, she was wearing very beautiful clothes, her face was bright as equilant to the brightness of  crores of sun.  Several other goddesses were also present beside her, who were praising her and engaged in her service.  Then seeing  Goddess ,Vishnu started thinking who is this goddess, why has she come here and who are these womens standing next to her ?

Seeing Vishnu thinking like this, Lakshmi ji says.  Vishnu Why are you being so astonished – by the influence of Goddess Yogmaya you have forgotten me.  You have forgotten many of the creation before this.  You have taken many incarnations  to end evil demons in every creation.  Goddess Adi Shakti is Nirguna Parbrahma and you are Sguna Parabrahma .  In the same way, I am also a sattvik energy.  In no time, a lotus will be born from your navel in which Brahma Ji will appear and when you are angry, Rudra will come out of your eyebrow.  Brahma, you and shiva the three of you together get engaged in the work of creation, maintenance and destruction of this world.

Hearing these things of Goddess, Vishnu started saying, Goddess, just a short time ago, I had heard half a verse, please tell me who had said that verse.

Lakshmi ji says , vishnu  the half-verse that you had heard was said by Nirgun Swaroopa, supreme energy.  You should know rightly that this half verse is called Shrimad Devi Bhagavata Purana.  Always think about it, it is the essence of all the Vedas and the secret of all Srutis is hidden in it.  After knowing this, nothing more remains to be known in the world.  On hearing the things of the Goddess, Vishnu started chanting half verse and the goddess disappeared in a moment.

When Lord Brahma saw that Vishnu was reciting the verse, he asked him what this verse was.  Please tell me, then Vishnu ji narrated this Devi Bhagwat to Brahma ji after that Brahma ji narrated this to his son Narada.

Ved Vyas ji says, son Shukadeva I have heard the same shloka from Narada ji and by the end of Dwapara Yuga this half shloka turned into a big scripture and I too have divided it into 12 wings in detail.  You should listen to this Shrimad Devi Bhagavata Purana, which will clear all your doubts and you will be liberated.

Originated from Shrimad Devi Bhagwat and is extremely pleasant.  First, Shrimad Devi Bhagwat himself was narrated by Adishakti to Lord Vishnu, who later narrated to Brahma ji and Brahma ji to his son Narada and Narada ji narrated to Maharishi Ved Vyasa.
